Walking down a remote farm track, this delicate grass stem caught my attention. A simple, common grass made exquisite by its perfect, magical coating of hoarfrost.

Having been struck by the beauty of this sparkling grass stem, I spent time composing the photograph. It was vital to me to position myself so as to separate the stem from those around it, and to align the dark background to emphasize its frosty gleam.

Photographed using a Canon 5D Mark iii with 35mm lens.
